Like a moth to a flame
I was the light and you were the darkness
Yin and Yang in a parasitic dance.
The fire that fueled my soul
Fed the black abyss of yours.
And then I was extinguished,
Drained, broken.
A shell of myself
A smoldering neat pile of ashes
But my ember refused to die.
With Death breathing on my coals,
I was reborn!
Into a fire so exquisitely furious,
You choked on my inferno.
Enraptured with awe
Then blinded by your need and greed
To tame and own me,
You couldn’t see what happened.
I was now the Phoenix,
Wild, free, soaring, and untamable!
