What’s the best story you heard this month?
I took Ihnzo to dinner at Saltgrass on 410. The parking lot was pretty packed. I dropped him at the door and proceeded to park at the end of the back lot. Getting out of the truck, Ihnzo meets me part halfway back to the restaurant. He wanted to tell me about an encounter just then with some guy.
Ihnzo had walked into Saltgrass to get a table. There was a couple waiting for their table. The guy was expressing his opinion about what the back of another truck had on it. Something about “badass women driving badass trucks”. And that he’d show her a badass truck. Ihnzo said he asked the guy what he drove. He proudly stated an “F250!” Ihnzo tried to stifle a laugh and said, “a Ford”. The guy changed his demeanor and said, “It was a nice blue” (my truck). That’s when Ihnzo came out to meet me.
Of course, me not being a person to pass up an opportunity to jab back at someone, I waited for my window. This was going to be a moment of pettiness. While we were waiting for our food, Ihnzo had to go to the restroom. When he got back, he was irritated by the same guy. Ihnzo’s opinion was the guy didn’t have manners or respect for the ladies at the table because he was sitting at the head of the party table, eating with his hat on and his sunglasses balanced on the brim. When I asked, he said he was sitting at a table near the restrooms. I told him I would be right back.
I went to the ladies’ room and quickly came up with a plan. I called a ride-or-die and told her to play along. I then left the restroom area and began walking past his table, joking about how some guy driving a Ford allegedly got offended by my back window. I said he was supposedly driving an F250. Ihnzo showed up to “check on me” and escort me back to the table. I laughed at the whole situation the rest of the night.

Afterthoughts: This was definitely a moment of pure pettiness. I have an attitude, absolutely. For me though, it’s not about Ford vs. Ram vs. Chevy/GMC; it’s about fragile masculinity. If he has an issue with a confident woman being proud of her Bonnie Blue Beast, my Ram Hemi, he should take time to reflect on that. I’m just planting the seed. And this story still makes me giggle.
